NV Energy Receives Top National Awards from COMBINED CYCLE Journal

LAS VEGAS– Nov. 16, 2009 – NV Energy (NYSE: NVE) received the first-ever Pacesetter Utility Award and the company's Edward W. Clark Generating Station received the 2009 Pacesetter Plant Award fromCOMBINED CYCLE Journal.

COMBINED CYCLE Journalis noted as the authoritative information resource for owners and operators of gas-turbine and combined-cycle plants in North America.

CCJ's Editor and Publisher Robert Schwieger said that NV Energy was selected for significant achievements in four areas within a five-year timeline:

  • Building and acquiring a fleet of world-class combined cycles that more than doubled existing capacity to meet demand growth;
  • Satisfying Nevada's demanding Renewable Portfolio Standard;
  • Meeting air-emissions goals that are among the nation's most stringent; and
  • Reducing water consumption to industry minimums.

COMBINED CYCLE Journalsaid that the Clark Generating Station was recognized for a variety of reasons, but notably for recently doubling its energy output capabilities and cutting the plant's emissions in half. The 1102 megawatt plant also now has the ability to help NV Energy better respond to increasing amounts of renewable energy used to serve customer energy requirements.
