NV Energy Presents Rebate at TMWA Board Meeting

Water canal improvements that led to using less electricity have netted Truckee Meadows Water Authority (TMWA) an $82,556 rebate from NV Energy's Sure Bet Program for commercial customers. Today, a rebate check was presented to Mark Foree, TMWA general manager, from NV Energy during TMWA's Board of Directors Meeting.

"At Truckee Meadows Water Authority we are always looking for opportunities to reduce our costs, and in this case we were actually able to increase our production and use less energy," Foree said.

TMWA participated in NV Energy's Sure Bet program for commercial customers which offers cash incentives and technical assistance to help calculate energy savings and save money on power bills. Incentives are available for new construction, major renovations and existing facility improvements.

As a result of renovations to the Highland Canal, which delivers water from the Truckee River to Chalk Bluff Water Treatment Plant, TMWA will save 2.9 million kilowatt hours of electricity annually, or enough to provide electricity to more than 300 homes for one year. Because of these improvements, TMWA was able to reduce its annual electric bill by $243,000.

Since the Sure Bet Program began nine years ago, over 906 million kilowatt hours have been saved statewide through energy efficiency improvements, helping local businesses go green and cut energy costs. For more information, visit NV Energy's website at nvenergy.com/SureBet.
