NV Energy will be accepting applications for WindGenerations, the company’s rebate program for small wind turbines, from Friday, Dec. 14, until Friday, Jan. 11, at 5 p.m. If any categories for applications are oversubscribed, successful applicants will be chosen by a lottery.

Customers must submit applications online by accessing the WindGenerations website at www.nvenergy.com/renewablesenvironment/renewablegenerations/windgen/windapply.cfm.

Anyone with questions about the application process can call the RenewableGenerations program toll free at 866-786-3823 or contact the office by email at RenewableGenerations@nvenergy.com.

Program requirements for 2013 were revised by NV Energy and the Public Utilities Commission of Nevada with input from the wind industry in an effort to ensure that the projects selected will meet customers’ expectations.

Incentives for the program are one-time payments paid after the systems are completed and connected that are based on the power output capacity of the turbines. For homeowners, small businesses and agricultural customers, the incentive rate for the next round of projects is $2.15 per watt. The incentive rate for schools and public buildings is $3.15 per watt. Incentives will be available for up to 50 kilowatts (kW) of electricity for residential customers and small businesses, 100 kW for schools, 100 kW for public buildings and 750 kW for agricultural customers.

Reservation letters will be mailed to successful applicants by the end of January.

Since the start of the WindGenerations program in 2008, 150 wind turbine projects, capable of producing approximately 8.6 megawatts of electricity, have been installed statewide.
