NV ENERGY CUSTOMERS MAY CHOOSE ANALOG METER AS NON-STANDARD METERING OPTION

NV Energy announced today that it will offer an analog meter as the non-standard metering option for its trial opt-out program.

Residential customers who do not wish to have a digital “smart” meter on their residence will receive a refurbished, sealed and tested analog meter to ensure that all NV Energy meters meet applicable standards.

Costs for the non-standard metering option were outlined in the Public Utilities Commission of Nevada (PUCN) order today. The opt-out will include a one-time fee of 52.86 and $8.82 monthly for Southern Nevada electric customers, and $52.44 and $8.72 respectively for Northern Nevada electric customers. Northern Nevada gas customers will incur a monthly fee of $0.54.

Customers are advised not to call NV Energy to schedule installation as the company must still file tariffs within five business days for PUCN approval. Once approved, NV Energy will then formally contact customers on the postponement/refusal list to schedule removal of smart meters, and/or installation of the non-standard metering option.
