NV Energy is sponsoring a workshop in Reno for small and diverse businesses interested in providing goods and services to Nevada’s largest electric utility. The workshop is scheduled for Tuesday, March 12, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. in the company’s Sierra Plaza Auditorium at 6100 Neil Road.

Partnering with NV Energy to present the Strategies for Winning Contracts workshop are the Nevada Small Business Development Center (NSBDC), the U.S. Small Business Administration and the Nevada Office of Economic Development.

The cost of the workshop, which includes a continental breakfast and lunch, and a follow-up mentoring session with the class facilitator, is $25 per person. RSVP by noon on March 11 at (775) 784-1717 or visit the NSBDC website to sign up.

At the event, business owners will learn how to improve their chances of winning contracts. They’ll learn about developing and delivering a capability statement, marketing their company’s capabilities and best practices for winning contracts.  Representatives from NV Energy’s procurement and supplier diversity department will share essential information to help position attendees for opportunities.

The workshop is recommended for small and diverse businesses with goods and services that fit the needs of an energy company.

The session will be led by business consultant Lily Otieno, whose contract readiness boot camps and seminars have helped hundreds of small and diverse businesses get contracts from corporations and the federal government.
