NV Energy Restoring Power Through Wind Storm

Reno, Nev. (February 6, 2015)—As Northern Nevadans experience unusually high winds in the region, NV Energy is prepared to respond to power related emergencies as they occur. During the storm, NV Energy has multiple crews and troublemen in the field quickly responding to situations to help keep customers safe and to restore power.
The most important thing NV Energy wants to remind customers about during this major storm is safety. People should stay away or in their car if they encounter a downed line and call 911 immediately.
If customers do experience an outage, here are some helpful things to keep in mind:
- First, check to see if power is out throughout the home or business. If not, check the circuit breaker box to see if a switch has tripped or the fuse box to see if a fuse has blown. Then, look for lights on in surrounding neighbors' homes.
- Keep refrigerators and freezers closed to reduce food spoilage. If unopened and full, food can last for two days.
- Remember to access the Outage Center on nvenergy.com information. Customers concerned about outages are encouraged to visit NV Energy’s mobile friendly outage site at nvenergy.com/outage for real time updates. There, customers can learn about the following:
- Location of an outage
- Number of outages
- Number of customers impacted
- An estimated time of restoration
- Preliminary cause of an outage
- Updated cause of an outage if applicable.
- Northern Nevadans should call (775) 834-4100 if they wish to report an outage.
