LAS VEGAS - NV Energy and its parent company, Berkshire Hathaway Energy, today joined other national companies to support the American Business Act on Climate Pledge. This White House led initiative seeks the conclusion of a climate change agreement in Paris, France that takes a strong step forward in a sustainable future.

"We are proud of NV Energy’s track record when it comes to operating our assets in a way that’s good for our customers, our community and the environment,” said Paul Caudill, President and CEO. “Today’s climate pledge reinforces our commitment to environmental respect, which for us means using a robust renewable energy portfolio, low water use natural gas generation and best-in-class energy efficiency and demand response programs to serve our customers in a cost-effective manner.”

NV Energy recently filed for approval of two low-cost, grid-tied solar projects along with a subscription solar pilot program. The company is currently exceeding Nevada's Renewable Portfolio Standard and working with a number of large customers to assist them in using clean energy sources for their own businesses. The partnerships allow those customers to grow their businesses in a way that benefits Nevada and does not adversely affect other customers.

“Importantly, with the progress being made to lower the cost of renewable energy to a point where it is competitive with conventional generation, we are supporting a sustainable environment while at the same time providing a predictable, stable rate path for our customers,” Caudill said.

NV Energy along with Berkshire Hathaway Energy joins UPS, Goldman Sachs, Alcoa, Pepsi, Coca-Cola, Cargill, Microsoft, Wal-Mart, Google, Apple and Bank of America. For more information on the American Business Act on Climate Change visit www.whitehouse.gov.
