All Customers to Benefit from Cost Reduction

For the second consecutive quarter, NV Energy rates are going down. Effective today, NV Energy northern Nevada residential, commercial and industrial electric customers will see an overall electric rate decrease of 4 percent. Natural gas residential, commercial and industrial customers will see an overall gas rate decrease of 7.41 percent.  This reduction in electricity rates is due to the company’s management of costs associated with fuel and purchased power used to provide electricity.

These costs are passed through directly to our customers, dollar for dollar, with no profit to the company.

A typical northern Nevada single-family residential electric customer bill of $88.84, based on average usage of 758 kilowatt-hours a month, will see a decrease of approximately 3.4 percent, or $3.06. When added to the decrease of 5.28 percent experienced on July 1, a typical northern Nevada single-family residential electric customer bill has gone down $8.01 since the beginning of the year.

A single-family residential natural gas customer bill of $53.05, based on average use of 55 therms a month, will see a decrease of $3.77, or 7.11 percent. Combined with the decrease that took effect on July 1, a typical natural gas single-family residential customer bill has gone down $10.27 since January 1.

“This has been a year of good news for our customers. The company’s previous investments in efficient, reliable power plants, as well as the significant reductions we’ve made in our operating costs are providing benefits to customers through lower prices,” said Paul Caudill, NV Energy President and CEO.
