Southern NV Energy Rates Going Down Again

All Customers to Benefit from Cost Reduction

For the second consecutive quarter, NV Energy rates are going down. Effective today, NV Energy’s southern Nevada residential, commercial and industrial customers will see an overall rate decrease of 2.19 percent. This reduction in electricity rates is due to the company’s management of costs associated with fuel and purchased power used to provide electricity.

These costs are passed through directly to our customers, dollar for dollar, with no profit to the company.

A typical southern Nevada single-family residential customer bill of $149.71, based on average usage of 1,141 kilowatt-hours a month, will see a decrease of approximately 1 percent, or $1.35. When added to the decrease of 3.13 percent experienced on July 1, a typical southern Nevada single-family residential customer monthly bill has been reduced $6.18 since the beginning of the year.

Additionally, NV Energy settled its 2014 General Rate Case, required by law to be submitted every three years, resulting in no increase in revenue for the company and the smallest impact a general rate filing has had on southern Nevada customers in more than a decade.

“This has been a year of good news for our customers. The company’s previous investments in efficient, reliable power plants, as well as the significant reductions we’ve made in our operating costs are providing benefits to customers through lower prices,” said Paul Caudill, NV Energy President and CEO.
