Glenn Christenson Elected to Sierra Pacific Resources Board of Directors

Sierra Pacific Resources (NYSE: SRP) today announced that Glenn C. Christenson, recently retired executive vice president and chief financial officer of Station Casinos, Inc., has been elected to Sierra Pacific's board of directors, effective immediately.

Walter Higgins, chairman and chief executive officer of Sierra Pacific Resources, said, "As a long-time and very successful senior executive in the Nevada business community and as an active leader and participant in many civic, charitable and other community activities, Glenn Christenson brings a wealth of experience and knowledge that will be invaluable in helping guide our company in the years ahead. And of course his financial acumen and experience will be a great asset in our board's fiscal decision-making processes. We are delighted he is joining us."

Christenson, 57, retired from Station Casinos after 17 years with the company. Prior to joining Station Casinos, he was with the international accounting firm of Deloitte Haskins & Sells (now Deloitte & Touche), also for 17 years, where he was a partner and served as a partner-in-charge of audit services for the Nevada Practice and National Audit Partner for the firm's hospitality industry practice.

His civic and community participation over the years has been important and diversified. Currently, he is a member of the following boards of directors: the Las Vegas Convention and Visitors Authority, the National Center for Responsible Gaming and the Nevada State College Foundation. He also is on the board of trustees of the Nevada Development Authority and is an advisor to the University of Nevada Las Vegas Business School.

Christenson holds an undergraduate degree in business administration from Wittenberg University and an MBA in finance from The Ohio State University. He was named to the Nevada Society of CPAs Hall of Fame for Business and Industry in 2002 and was designated one of the Most Influential Businessmen in southern Nevada by In Business magazine in 2002. Most recently, in a poll of investors and analysts conducted by Institutional Investor Magazine, Christensen was named the top CFO in the gaming and lodging industry in 2006 and 2007.

He and his wife Ande have two children and reside in Las Vegas.
