Shareholders Elect Board Members at Sierra Pacific Resources Annual Meeting

Shareholders elected three members of Sierra Pacific Resources' (NYSE: SRP) Board of Directors at today's annual shareholders' meeting in Reno.

Elected to three-year terms were Krestine Corbin, president and chief executive officer of Sierra Machinery Inc., and Dennis Wheeler, chairman, president and chief executive officer of Coeur d'Alene Mines Corp. Also elected to a three-year term was Clyde Turner, chairman and chief executive officer of Turner Investments, Inc. Turner served as the chairman and chief executive officer of the Mandalay Resort Group (formerly Circus Circus Enterprises) from 1994 - 1998. Turner had been named to the board in 2001.

At the meeting, retiring board members James Murphy and Fred Gibson were recognized for their contributions to the company. A member of the board for 12 years, Murphy is a retired partner and consultant to the Grant Thornton accounting firm. Gibson joined the Nevada Power Company Board of Directors in 1978 and was elected to the Sierra Pacific Resources board when the two companies merged in 1999. He is the former chairman, president and chief executive officer of American Pacific Corp., and continues to serve as a member of the company's board of directors.

Following the retirement of Murphy and Gibson, Sierra Pacific Resources' Board of Directors now has 10 members.

Headquartered in Nevada, Sierra Pacific Resources is a holding company whose principal subsidiaries are Nevada Power Company, the electric utility for most of southern Nevada, and Sierra Pacific Power Company, the electric utility for most of northern Nevada and the Lake Tahoe area of California. Sierra Pacific Power Company also distributes natural gas in the Reno-Sparks area of northern Nevada. Other subsidiaries include the Tuscarora Gas Pipeline Company, which owns a 50 percent interest in an interstate natural gas transmission partnership, and several unregulated energy services companies.
