Kathie Preston, CPS, a secretary in Sierra Pacific Power Co.'s Corporate Communications Department, has been chosen Secretary of the Year for the Valley in the Sierras Chapter of Professional Secretaries International (PSI).

She will represent the Valley in the Sierras Chapter at the Arizona-Nevada-New Mexico Division annual meeting in Scottsdale, Ariz., in June. The winner there will represent the division at the International Convention in Atlanta, Ga., in August.

Preston, who is also president of the local chapter, was chosen based on work experience, volunteerism, education, an interview with media, education and business representatives, and a questionnaire answered by her supervisor. A Certified Professional Secretary (CPS), she joined Sierra Pacific in 1987.

A CPS is, attained through testing on such subjects as management/behavioral science, office technology and administration, and finance/business law.
