Sierra Pacific Power Co. will construct two electric power lines this summer to meet growing energy demands by new customers in the Elko area. Both construction projects will cost a total of $450,000.

"With the Elko area growing very rapidly, these new power lines will enhance electric service reliability to both new and existing customers," said Dennis Gotcher, operations manager for Sierra Pacific's Elko district.

Construction will begin this week on the first of the two power lines, which will parallel Interstate 80 from Exit 310 at Osino to Exit 3 14 at Ryndon, a distance of 3.5 miles. This construction project, which will be completed by the end of June, replaces an existing single phase 25,000 volt line with a new three phase 25,000 volt line.

The second power line, which will be completed this fall, begins at the north end of the Spring Creek 200 tract and travels five miles to near the intersection of Boyd Kennedy Road and Lamoille Highway. This project consists of a three phase 25,000 volt line.
