Jim Kracaw, 36, has been named area manager of district operations for Sierra Pacific Power Company's Winnemucca and Lovelock offices. In his new position, Kracaw will be responsible for operation and maintenance of the electric distribution system that serves approximately 10,000 customers in the Winnemucca-Lovelock area.

For the past six years, Kracaw has been the district engineer for the utility's Elko office. He held the same position in Carson City for three years and spent two years with the company's Standards and Distribution Planning Department in Reno. He's been with Sierra Pacific for the past 14 years.

Kracaw, who was raised in Winnemucca, earned a degree in electrical engineering from the University of Nevada, Reno, in 1988 and he's a registered professional engineer in Nevada. He and his wife, Annie, and their daughter live in Winnemucca.
