Nevada Power announced that a record system peak of 4859 megawatts was recorded at 4:43 p.m. today (August 9, 2004). The prior system peak occurred last year at 4 p.m., July 22, with a recording of 4808 megawatts.The company said it is likely that today's record will be surpassed this summer. Increases in demand can be attributed to customer growth as well as weather factors. Nevada Power has more than 700,000 customers today, compared with approximately 675,000 customers one year ago.###
