Nevada Power Company reported a record system peak of 4933 megawatts at 4:36 p.m. today. This exceeds the previous peak of 4859 megawatts recorded on August 9.The company said it is likely that today's record will be surpassed this summer. Increases in demand can be attributed to customer growth as well as weather factors. Nevada Power has more than 700,000 customers today, compared with approximately 675,000 customers one year ago.Tips to help customers stay cooler include using certain appliances (ovens, dishwashers, clothes dryers, etc.) during off-peak hours (8 p.m.Â- 11 a.m.) as well as running ceiling and oscillating fans to help increase airflow.###
