Nevada Power Company achieved a new record system peak of 3,588 megawatts Wednesday, July 15, at 5 p.m.

Last year's record system peak occurred Thursday, August 7, at 4 p.m. with a recording of 3,469 megawatts. Today's mark surpassed the new peak set Tuesday, July 14 or 3,476 megawatts.

Nevada Power Company is well prepared to deliver the electricity its customers require, as each year customer demand for electricity grows. From 1993 to 1997, the peak demand increased by nearly 30 percent from 2,681 megawatts in 1993 to 3,469 megawatts in 1997. The Company has experienced a 32 percent rate of growth in the number of customers served during the same time period. As of June 30, 1998, Nevada Power Company provided electricity and energy services to more than 1.2 million residents of southern Nevada and is the nation's fastest-growing electric utility.
