Nevada Power Company is beautifying a power substation and improving public safety through a community partnership with Las Vegas City Councilman Gary Reese. Residents near the Artesian substation, on the corner of Bonanza Road and Eastern Avenue, met with Ward Three Councilman Reese and representatives from Nevada Power Company to discuss the aesthetics of the substation.
Councilman Reese worked with Nevada Power Company to incorporate the landscape designs around the substation with the recent beautification project on Eastern Avenue. The new design reflects the natural desert environment and replaces the old Artesian substation landscape design.
"We are beautifying the substation and increasing safety around it for residents," said Michael Niggli, CEO, president and COO Nevada Power Company."We are working with other government agencies to improve the landscaping at other substations and continuing our Company's commitment to the surrounding environment. We believe the partnership that was forged with Councilman Reese is a model for the future."
"Everyone wins with the improvements Nevada Power Company is making to the Artesian substation," said Gary Reese, Las Vegas Councilman."Now, area residents get a power facility that truly blends in with recent area enhancements, and police have an unobstructed view of the area which increases public safety around the substation."
