The 2000 National Meter Readers Conference (NMRC) will be hosted by Nevada Power, June 6-9 at Bally's Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas. The focus of this year's conference program will be"surviving deregulation."

NMRC is a non-profit organization formed in support of the annual conference for utility managers, who are responsible for customer data acquisition and data management. Each year the conference is hosted by a utility company, whose personnel comprise the volunteer planning committee for the conference. This year, the conference chair is Evelyn Hollins, director of Customer Care, Nevada Power.

"Nevada Power is pleased to serve as the host utility for this landmark conference, the first of a new millennium," said Hollins."This is an exciting time for all of us as we move into a new century and a new era for our industry. With competition, around the corner, there are many changes in store for us and the NMRC Conference offers the perfect forum to keep up with new developments in regulations, technologies, products and services."

The conference's education program will feature nationally recognized industry speakers, with sessions exploring topical utility industry issues. An exhibit hall will feature leading industry vendors, showcasing products and services that range from satellite-based communications to dog bite prevention.
