Nevada Power Supports Local Community Groups

Eight local non-profit organizations benefited recently when Nevada Power awarded several community grants. The recipients were:

· Nevada Veterans Museum
· Moapa Family Resource Center
· Baby Find
· Nature Conservancy
· National Wildlife Refuge
· Hawk Watch International
· Wild Wing Project
· Red Rock Audubon Society
· Lied Senior Center

In all, the company provided donations totaling approximately $17,500 to support communities in southern Nevada.

Nevada Power Company annually provides support from the Sierra Pacific Foundation as well as sponsorships for community and charity events. The company has a long history of both charitable support and employee volunteerism with many local organizations, United Way, Christmas in April, Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure, National Make a Difference Day are a few of the organization receiving ongoing support.

"These grants are important to us for a number of reasons," Walt Higgins, CEO of the company said."But the main reason is that they make our home--southern Nevada--a better place to live. We hope it sets an example for other companies."
