Richard K. Atkinson has been appointed assistant treasurer for Sierra Pacific Resources and Sierra Pacific Power Co. In his new position, Atkinson will be responsible for investor relations and all major treasury functions including cash management, corporate finance and financial analysis.

Atkinson is a 16 year Sierra Pacific veteran, having joined the company in 1980 as a financial analyst. He has worked his way progressively upward through the ranks to his most recent position as manager of financial services.

Atkinson holds a bachelor's degree from the University of Oregon at Eugene and received his MBA from the University of Nevada, Reno. He will report to Malyn Malquist, senior vice president, chief financial officer and treasurer for Sierra Pacific.
