Grant Sims to Head Economic Development Effort for Sierra Pacific Power

Will act as liaison to economic development authorities

Sierra Pacific Power Company has announced Grant Sims as its manager of Economic Development for northern Nevada.  In his new position, he will collaborate with strategic planning and business development groups to design and implement regional development plans.

Sims joined Sierra Pacific in 1999 and has worked for the utility as a liaison with regional economic development authorities in northern Nevada and the state.

In making the announcement, Mary Simmons, vice president of External Affairs for Sierra Pacific said,“Grant has proven to be an effective leader within the economic development community.  He has outstanding talents and contacts to attract businesses to locate and grow in northern Nevada.”

Sims has extensive experience in community development, serving as a Reno City Councilman and Washoe County Commissioner. He has also served on numerous boards, including the Regional Planning Governing Board, the Economic Development Authority of Western Nevada Board of Trustees, and the Builders Association of Northern Nevada Board of Directors. He is a member of the Regional Transportation Commission Hall of Fame. Grant graduated from California State University, Sacramento, with a bachelor of science degree in political science.
