Sierra Pacific Power Company Launches Energy Efficiency Course Aimed at Businesses

Sierra Pacific Power Company, in collaboration with Management Assistance Partnership and the Nevada System of Higher Education, is offering Nevada FOCUSâ€" a statewide training and certification program designed for building engineers, facility operators and their crews, along with other interested parties.

Nevada FOCUS is a series of workshops designed to increase energy conservation in the workplace and reduce energy costs.  The workshops provide the information needed to become a certified practitioner in this area.  The program includes information on electrical, HVAC, water, compressed air, energy management control systems, code requirements, building commissioning and more.

The all-day workshops are held every Friday through October 7.  Workshop presenters are recognized authorities in their fields and encourage an open forum for discussion.  Participants receive comprehensive class materials designed to reinforce class instruction.

All Nevada FOCUS classes are held at Truckee Meadows Community College's Dandini Campus in Reno, with interactive videoconferencing in Austin, Carson City, Minden, Elko, Ely, Eureka, Fallon, Hawthorne, Lovelock, Panaca, South Lake Tahoe, Tonopah, Wells and Winnemucca.  The registration fee is $145 for each individual workshop and discounts are available for attending multiple workshops.  Participants may attend as many workshops as they choose, with each 8-hour workshop successfully completed earning them .7 CEU through Truckee Meadows Community College.  Seating is limited and registration is available on a first-come, first-served basis.  To register or for more information and a class schedule, log ontowww.nvfocus.comor call Bob Bricca at 775-722-9824.
