Nevada Power employee volunteers will help fit children for shoes and socks as part of the Third Annual Good Two Shoes Giveaway, on Saturday, October 22 from 8:15 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. at the Payless Shoe Source located at 2131 S. Decatur Boulevard and Sahara Avenue.

According to a recent study one out of eight residents lives in poverty.  That's why Nevada Power will be sponsoring the Payless Shoe Source Third Annual Goodie Two Shoes Giveaway. "Our company is committed to community involvement, and we are gratified to be able to participate in this worthy cause,"said Doretha Graham-Easler, Nevada Power's manager of Community Relations. "We are excited about teaming up with the Boys and Girls Club of Las Vegas, Make A Difference Day, and the Las Vegas Chapter of NFL Retired Plays'Association."

Nevada Power employees regularly volunteer hundreds of hours of their time annually to enrich the lives of others in our community.  Last year, the Goodie Two Shoes Giveaway outfitted 500 disadvantaged local children with much-needed new shoes and socks. The children, who range from ages 5 to 17, are bussed to local stores and allowed to select a pair of shoes for themselves. In addition, each child receives lunch, a commemorative t-shirt, and a backpack full of school supplies. The Las Vegas Chapter of the NFL Retired Players Association donates funds, and members promote the event by signing autographs and making personal appearances.
