Las Vegas, NV- Nevada Power and Sierra Pacific Power announced today that the Sure Bet Commercial Incentive Program has been fully subscribed for the 2005 funding.

Sure Bet is an incentive program designed to facilitate the implementation of cost-effective energy-efficiency improvements in businesses. The total funding available for 2005 was $914,729 for Nevada Power and $400,271 for Sierra Pacific Power.“The response has been overwhelming and we are very excited that our rebate program is so readily accepted by our customers,” said John Hargrove, Director of Energy Efficiency and Conservation for Nevada Power Company.

“We have more than doubled the program in the last two years and the program continues to sell out before the end of the year. The number of applications and the size of the typical projects have all increased too,” added Hargrove.

The program is open to commercial, industrial and institutional companies who are current Nevada Power or Sierra Pacific Power customers. Ã¢â‚¬Å“We have also broadened the target markets for the program. The first year it was for small commercial only. Now, all commercial customers are eligible. We also now have building optimization assessments, assistance with new construction, and we have some very significant programs working with all the school districts in our service territories,” said Hargrove.

There are two types of incentives available: Prescriptive Incentivesare offered on a per-unit basis for common energy saving technologies such as compact fluorescent lamps and fixtures, upgrading fluorescent fixtures with T8 or T5 lamps and electronic ballasts, occupancy sensors, LED traffic signals, HID to T5's, LED exit signs, High EER or SEER package air conditioning units, set back thermostats, window film, premium efficiency motors, refrigeration measures, photovoltaics and vending misers. Custom Incentivesare based on the actual amount of electrical-energy and peak-demand savings.

Customers are encouraged to continue to submit applications as they will be placed on a waiting list. If additional funding becomes available it will be allocated on a first-come first-serve basis in the order applications are received.

Those planning their 2006 construction and maintenance budgets may contact the Sure Bet Team for assistance in determining if the work is eligible for incentives.

In addition to Sure Bet, the New Construction Design Assistance Program is available to help commercial property owners, developers, architects and construction companies to explore, design and build more efficient commercial buildings. The program offers incentives to help offset the incremental cost of energy-efficient commercial building design. In addition, technical guidance and education on energy-efficiency practices are provided to design professionals and building owners.
