The Public Utilities Commission of Nevada (PUCN) has approved the expansion of Sierra Pacific Power Company's existing natural gas service territory to encompass more of the Tahoe-Reno Industrial Center, east of Reno, Nevada.  The company currently serves natural gas to the initial phase of the development.

The expansion includes 16 square miles of land in Storey County that will ensure Sierra Pacific's ability to serve large gas industrial customers and other developments planned for the TRI Center.

The TRI Center is intended to be a mixed-use, nonresidential development, consisting of a wide range of industrial, office and commercial businesses.
