The jobs of brokers, developers and site selectors seeking to locate a business in northern Nevada just got easier, thanks to the launch of a new Geographic Real Estate and Office Industrial Database, or GRID.  GRID is a Comprehensive Geographic Information System for all available commercial and industrial property in northern Nevada.

Whether it's an office building in Reno, a warehouse in Elko, or industrial parks in Lyon or Storey Counties, if it's available for lease or sale it can be found on GRID.  Visit the website athttp://econdev.sierrapacific.com/sppc/.

The new comprehensive system is an outgrowth of Sierra Pacific Power's Economic Development website, which is already popular with developers, commercial real estate brokers, and businesses researching a move to northern Nevada.

"This is a natural progression from our previously static real estate directory to a real time look at what's available where, when and how,"said Grant Sims, manager of Economic Development for Sierra Pacific Power.  Sims said Sierra Pacific has participated and partnered with the state's economic development efforts since the 1960's  The company's economic development website has over 17,000 visitors each month.

"Working with the Economic Development Authority of Western Nevada (EDAWN), we identified a need for a single database of currently available properties reflecting an added component of important demographic information,” Sims said. Ã¢â‚¬Å“To increase participation and create a comprehensive inventory, Sierra Pacific will maintain and update the site, freeing brokers and developers to focus on their primary business of selling and leasing,"he said.

For the first time, Sierra Pacific's GRID provides a comprehensive look at all of the commercial and industrial property available for the northern half of the state, regardless of city or county location, regardless of owner or broker.

Sims says"GRID is the extra step of due diligence that companies, brokers and developers are expecting from Sierra Pacific's economic development efforts.  We set out to create a one-stop website where all of the information available about all properties was in one place,"said Sims. "Instead of having to search multiple websites or listings, you can get a snapshot of everything northern Nevada has to offer in just one place."

The system is searchable by size, by location or by type of property desired.  Included with the search are scaleable maps of the property, listings for land uses and nearby roadways, plus vital information about the sale, lease and suitable uses for the property.  Census data is incorporated to show demographics of the surrounding area and is even available for researching population bases, employment potential of workers and prevailing wages.

To make the ultimate search even easier, each property listing contains a direct link to the broker or developer involved with the property for quick reference and contact.

"The ease and speed of property research and location using this new system gives northern Nevadans many advantages for economic development, whether we're recruiting, retaining or growing businesses here in northern Nevada.  It will not only save time, but will make sure available properties aren't overlooked,"Sims said.
