Sierra Pacific Resources (NYSE:SRP) has joined a national coalition urging support from Congressional leaders to pass the extension of federal tax incentives that promote renewable energy and energy efficiency technologies.

Michael Yackira, president and CEO of Sierra Pacific Resources, said the company joined other organizations such as the Natural Resources Defense Council, Sierra Club, GE Energy, Renewable Energy Systems Americas Inc. and Xcel Energy in sending a letter to Senate and House leadership asking them to"do everything you can to ensure prompt enactment, with significant bipartisan support"of the bill, which has already been passed by the Senate.

"Extending these tax credits will help make renewable energy more affordable, ultimately benefiting Nevada families,"said Yackira."Our company is committed to expanding our renewable energy initiatives and investments and this legislation will not only assist us in our efforts, but it could bring about additional interest in Nevada's abundant clean-energy resources."
