Energy Expert and Former Florida Regulatory Chairman Elected to Sierra Pacific Resources Board of Directors

LAS VEGAS -- Sierra Pacific Resources (NYSE: SRP) today announced that Susan F. Clark, an attorney with 28 years experience specializing in energy law and utility regulation matters, has been elected to Sierra Pacific's board of directors, effective immediately.

Clark, who formerly served as chairman of the state of Florida's Public Service Commission (FPSC), is currently a shareholder of Radey Thomas Yon& Clark, a Tallahassee-based law firm.  Her practice concentrates on energy and telecommunications law and utility regulation, including providing advice, counsel and representation before state and federal legislative, regulatory and executive bodies, as well as various state and federal courts.

Michael Yackira, president and chief executive officer of Sierra Pacific Resources, said,"Susan Clark brings a wealth of regulatory and legal expertise to our board. Susan was a highly respected commissioner on Florida's PSC for nine years, serving as chairman in 1995-96.  Her overall 20-year affiliation with the FPSC included being the Commission's General Counsel for more than three years."

Clark, a member of the Florida bar since 1974, earned her Juris Doctor Degree from the University of Florida that same year.  She also holds a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science from the University of Florida (1971).
