NV Energy customers interested in receiving an incentive for installing solar panels on their homes or businesses now have another month to prepare to submit their applications. Today the company moved the opening date to begin accepting applications to April 21, 2010.

"The additional time will allow customers and contractors an opportunity to better understand and comply with new regulations, collect necessary documents, and be fully prepared to submit complete SolarGenerations applications,"according to John Hargrove, project manager for energy efficiency and conservation at NV Energy.

He explained new regulations by the Nevada Public Utilities Commission (PUCN) now require potential residential and small business applicants to submit a contract along with their application.

Applications will be available on line beginning April 21 on the RenewableGenerations website at nvenergy.com/renewablegenerations.

NV Energy also continues to accept applications for its WindGenerations and HydroGenerations incentive programs for customers interested in generating electricity using wind or water power.

Since the start of the SolarGenerations program seven years ago, 3.8 megawatts of solar energy have been installed statewide at 550 locations and over $13 million in financial incentives has been paid to participants.  Current rebates range from $2.30 to $5.00 per watt for photovoltaic solar panels.  The program was created by the Nevada State Legislature.
