NV Energy is seeking northern Nevada nonprofit organizations interested in receiving grants for energy efficiency improvements. Individual projects can receive up to $5,000 in funding, and for grants between $5,000 and $10,000, agencies are required to provide a 50 percent matching investment.

Application letters are due by Aug. 15, and the improvement projects have to be completed by Nov. 15, 2011. Applicants must be 501(c)(3) qualified and located within NV Energy’s northern Nevada service territory.

Among the types of weatherization and energy-efficiency retrofit projects that may qualify for grants are the replacement of lighting systems and controls, insulation upgrades, improvements to heating and cooling systems and appliance upgrades.

The company is presenting a webinar about the grant program on Wednesday, July 27, from 10 to 11 a.m. Register at: https://www3.gotomeeting.com/register/595561942. In addition, energy efficiency experts from NV Energy are available to help agencies identify energy savings opportunities.
