NV Energy will be accepting applications for WindGenerations, the company’s wind turbine incentive program, from Friday, Dec. 2, until 5 p.m. on Wednesday, Dec. 14. If any of the categories for applications are oversubscribed, successful applicants will be chosen by a lottery.

Applications must be submitted through the PowerClerk software located on NV Energy’s website at: http://nvenergy.com/renewablesenvironment/renewablegenerations/windgen/.

For residential, small business and agricultural customers, the incentive rate for the 2011-12 application period will be is $2.25 per watt, and the incentive for schools and public buildings will be $3.25 per watt.

NV Energy introduced the WindGenerations program in 2008. Since then, 72 projects capable of generating 720 kilowatts of electricity have been completed, and thus far, approximately $2.2 million in incentives has been paid to program participants.

The Nevada State Legislature created the wind turbine incentive program in 2007 to encourage Nevadans to install small wind turbines in order to reduce the state’s carbon footprint. A similar incentive program for photovoltaic solar panels was established by the legislature in 2003.
